23 Thus says the Lord : Do not let the wise boast in their wisdom, do not let the mighty boast in their might, do not let the wealthy boast in their wealth; 24 but let those who boast boast in this, that they understand and know me, that I am the Lord ; I act with steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the Lord. Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NRSV)

GOD IS OMNIPOTENT:  HE CAN DO IT

GOD IS OMNIPRESENT:  HE IS HERE!

GOD IS OMNISCIENT. HE KNOWS IT!   Psalm 139:1-6; Ps 14:5

God doesn’t just have knowledge of actuality, He knows all possibilities

GOD IS IMMUTABLE. HE NEVER CHANGES!  Malachi 3:6;  Hebrews 13:8

“All that God is, He has always been; and all that he has been He will ever be.”

KNOWING THAT GOD CAN DO IT… encourages me to trust God.

KNOWING THAT GOD IS HERE… gives me courage and security.

And helps me fight temptation

KNOWING THAT GOD KNOWS IT… gives me confidence as I face the future

And helps me to relax, I don’t have the worry about my short-comings or my weaknesses or inabilities.  God knows all about those things and still chose me to serve Him.

KNOWING THAT GOD NEVER CHANGES… encourages me to pray

We don’t have to play “He loves me, He loves me not” with God.

May we say with the hymn writer, “I know in whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I’ve committed unto Him against that day.”

“The people who know their God shall be strong and shall do great exploits.”   Daniel 11:32.

For Further Reflection:

Jesus said, “This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” John 17:3.  The heart of eternal life  is for you to KNOW GOD and to KNOW JESUS CHRIST whom God has sent.  Knowing God does no come through a sermon or a program or even a method.  It is a relationship with a person.  It is an intimate love relationship with God.  Through this relationship, God reveals His will and invites you to join Him where He is already at work.  When you obey, God accomplishes through you something only He can do.  Then you come to KNOW GOD in a more intimate way by experiencing God at work through you.  When you believe that nothing significant can happen through you, you have said more about your belief in God than you have said about yourself.
