Covetousness is craving more of what you have enough of already.

What do we know about the man in Jesus’ story?

I.                   He Was wealthy

We are still measuring people by what they have rather than by what they are.

Money has a way of binding us to what is physical and temporal, and blinding us to what is spiritual and eternal.

II.                he was industrious.

The Bible commends hard work, but you can work hard and never ask what am I really working for.

III. he was  progressive

Progress is not often made in people; it's made in property (things).

“is it really progress to move rapidly down a road if it’s the wrong road.”

He had prepared for all the possibilities, in life and ignored life's only certainty.

If you believe that God exists, but you live as though he doesn’t, God says you are a fool.

A life rich toward God is a life centered on God?

There’s something worse than not getting what you desire, its getting what you desire only to discover it’s not what you really wanted after all.

Digging Deeper:  In your Own words, what is the punch line of this Parable

For Further Reflection:  Advertising is dedicated to making us think verse 15 is wrong.  What differences in lifestyle result from believing Jesus instead of  advertisements?  In planning an investment portfolio to become “rich toward God”, what will you do this week? This year?
