What in the World is Going On?

            The rapture will set the stage for a world leader ("the Antichrist.") to rise to power. He will negotiate world peace and promise to deliver security and economic prosperity.

• The “prince that shall come” - Daniel 9:26
• A “fierce king” - Daniel 8:23
• A master of intrigue - Daniel 8:23
• A despicable man - Daniel 11:21
• A “worthless shepherd” - Zechariah 11:16-17
• The man of destruction - II Thessalonians 2:3
• A man of lawlessness - II Thessalonians 2:8
• The evil man - II Thessalonians 2:9
• A “beast” - Revelation 13:1

He will be a Charismatic Leader - Daniel 7:7-8, 20, 25; Revelation 13:5 

He will be a strikingly attractive person. When he comes on the scene, because of his magnetic personality, good looks and great oratory skills people will flock to him and be willing to do anything he says.

He will be a Cunning Leader - Daniel 7:8; Daniel 11:21

He is a political genius, a masterful diplomat and a clever leader.

He will be a Conniving Leader - Daniel 7:25; II Thessalonians 2:4; Revelation 13:8

  He will speak out against the true God of heaven.

He will be a Cruel Leader - Daniel 7:23

He will be a cruel, blood-thirsty leader who takes out his wrath on those who have become Christians during the Tribulation period.

• He kills two-thirds of all the Jews (Revelation 13).
• He conquers the city of Jerusalem (Zechariah 14).
• He slaughters myriads of Gentiles (Revelation 13).
• He wears out the saints of the Most High (Daniel 7:25).

The Profile of the Coming World Ruler

Politically: The Antichrist will not have an auspicious beginning but will slowly emerge from the masses of people.

Nationally: He rises out of the fourth empire, the Revived Roman Empire.

Providentially: Over and over again in Revelation 13, we find a little phrase: "…And he was given..."  The Antichrist will be able to do only that which God allows him to do.

The Program of the Coming World Ruler: 

• Temporary peace with Israel (Daniel 9:27; Isaiah 28:18).
• Dies and raised back to life (Revelation 13:3-4).  
• Assassinates the leaders of three countries in the European Union, and the other countries immediately relinquish their power to him.
• Sets himself up to be worshiped by all people
• The mark of the beast is placed upon followers. Without this mark, no one will be able to buy or sell.
• Desecrates the temple in Jerusalem. "abomination of desolation."  
• He attempts to annihilate every Jew
• The battle of Armageddon begins.

But then, just when things seem the most bleak & hopeless Jesus Christ comes (The Second Coming). Christ will assume his role as rightful King and Ruler of the universe.
